Unfinished Business
I know it's been a while since the last post, but some exciting things have been going on recently. First I should mention how Townsend is coming along. I'm not quite done with the carving, mostly because of a weeklong hiatus I've had to take due to unforeseen circumstances, but it shouldn't be difficult to get it finished up fairly quickly.
I recently had the opportunity to finish a sign that I started 4 months ago. It was one of the first that I designed myself, but never got the opportunity to paint it. Thankfully the couple that I made it for recently returned and were more than happy to let me finish it for them. It's a good feeling to finally have closure on that one.

Happy Birthday Ingrid!
H&I is finally done! I hope you like your present Ingrid, and that you have a great Birthday. The sign turned out really well, and I think I may have found something to paint on signs for boys. What do you think?

Townsend Begins

Delayed Update
I usually try and keep these current when working on different projects, but this week came and went before I was able to do anything about it. I've held off on Townsend on account of a rush order on Hector&Ingrid. H&I is coming along quite nicely and is currently in the sanding stage.
It is this point where updates will stop until completion. I do this because I like to retain some element of surprise with each piece for each customer. Once the piece is delivered completion pictures will be posted like normal.
Orders are currently still flowing in! Thanks for the support, keep an eye out for your sign on the homepage!

Beginning and End
I don't know what I like doing more, finishing a project or having a new one to start. They both have their ups and downs, but it's a good feeling either way. I'll admit that starting a project can be infinitely more frustrating than finishing. The fact that I've got to find out how to get whatever someone wants into a block of wood lying on my table. On top of that I've got to make it look different than anything I've done, or give it some extra zest.
But nothing is better than being done, because (most of the time) I know I did it right and there aren't any more chances for me to make a mistake. During the whole process I have this image in my mind about what I want it to look like when I'm done. Sometimes it turns out just like I thought, other times not so much. No matter how it ends up looking, I've always been happy with the final result. At this point, the only thing I have to worry about is if others fall in love with it as much as I have.
